British Columbia salmon is famous the world over - as are the grizzly bears that make salmon their staple. For centuries, salmon-fishing supported human and animal life in British Columbia, but the rivers, lakes and Pacific Coast contain numerous fish species and an amazing diversity of fish habitats, all attractive to the fisher.


65 Million Kokanee Salmon
The Columbia Basin Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program reports that hydro-acoustic (sonar) surveys estimate nearly 65 million kokanee salmon in the areas studied, including the Arrow Lakes Reservoir, Kootenay Lake, Lake Revelstoke Reservoir and Kinbasket Reservoir.
